The fluorescent yellow-green color in traffic signs plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility of important warnings and providing specific information to drivers. This particular color is used to alert motorists to potential hazards that may involve pedestrians, bicycles, and school zones.

In this context, the significance of the fluorescent yellow-green color is its ability to grab attention and convey urgency, particularly in areas where children may be present, such as near schools, or where cyclists and pedestrians share the road with vehicles. This color stands out more than traditional colors like black-on-yellow, especially in low-light situations, making it vital for safety in high-risk areas.

While other colors are used in the traffic sign system to serve different purposes—such as indicating one-way streets, construction zones, or areas where reduced speed is necessary—fluorescent yellow-green specifically signals to drivers to remain vigilant for vulnerable road users and dynamic environments.
